Hard as it may be to believe, yesterday was just day 2 for my 2017 season…and it wasn’t much to write about.
Seneca Bouy looked to be cooking early, upper teens, so I finished up chores and arrived at 1:00 to about 10-ish. A few foiling and big kites, but not much. I was a perfect longboard day…had I brought it. Looked to be a lot of kiters with high hopes, but not many at a time on the water. I looked on the web to see wind to the north, south, far west (Erie), spotty on the Big O (fluky offshore readings, no doubt), but Canandaigua, Seneca, Penn Yann, the FLX were in a hole.
A few short-lived surges was about all there was…5-15 minutes at a time (117 Aero / 8.0 SF, . As everyone packed up, I went over and chatted with Kevin. As we parted it looked to be picking up again, so I went back out and soon was getting killed. Hurried in to rig the 6.7 SF, and got about an hour of weird but OK 6.5 riding from 5 – 6 PM. Had the lake to myself at that point, as all the rest of Labor Dayers had had enough of a nice, but not windy, day.
