So hard to get motivated with the deary weather we’ve been experiencing but I kept my gear accessible and it paid off with a decent session at Canandaigua Lake.

The forecast showed the wind falling off hard by late morning so I tried to get up early but failed miserably in that department. As I left Rochester the sun was coming out and I hoped the wind would hold for a big board or foil session. On the drive down I got a post from Corey that Daigua was blowing 5.5 and I thought just maybe it would hole.

Corey was already on the water and had been since 9 am! He was on his 135 liter board and his 5.5 Ezzy Cheetah. I rigged a bit bigger anticipating a waning wind. The 6.5 Ezzy Lion, a seasonally appropriate red/green color, was just right for these conditions and I had great rides totally powered from one end of the beach front to the other.  After a short while my  hand started cramping up due to the gloves I was wearing so I took them off and with the moderate temperatures was just fine.

The wind died and I followed Corey in to enjoy a Sam Adam’s New England style IPA by the shore. A long discussion ensued about beer, especially Nedloh’s new owners from New York City that were bringing a high quality beer to the area. I seem to recall $120 a case for these premium beers, yikes!

While I thought we’d be the only crazy people out in the water in December, some guy showed up in swimming trunks and proceeded to do laps along the Kershaw shoreline! Somehow I doubt he’d be coming in for a cold IPA!

That’s awesome! Seneca Lake looked like it may have had wind early too. Anybody go there?

Scott jibing his holiday sail.  Care of Corey Dunn.  What a beauty looking day.  It was hard to miss a session like this, but I’m grateful to Corey and Scott for checking in.

Very nice..We are bracing for a BIG BLOW from the North starting tonight and lasting for two or three days at 20 to 30 with gusts in the 40s…….A bit cool at 45 to 50 ,but I guess that would be like Summer to you guys about now!…..I might still get away with going barefoot (hopefully, I really do not like wearing all that rubber)
