Sorry, thought I had posted the sizes with the pics. Think I did with the others, but not with this one
The sail shown above is a KS3 4.0.
The KSS (spiderlock, orange) is a 4.6.
The QU4D (red, blue and white) is a 5.2.
All 3 sails were purchased a year ago, and used 2x each since then. The 5.2 was in 9.5/10 condition by Hot Sails, the KS3 a 9.0 and KSS an 8.5, mainly on the basis of one of the spider panels having been repaired by the Hot Sails. You have to look REALLY close to find which one it was…best sail repair I’ve ever seen. I would say they’re in the same condition now. I had no accidents.
The QU4D is the best for B&J, in my opinion, powerful but nice and light. The KSS and KS3 are very nice wave sails, very nice when overpowered, very light, mainly I prefer the absolutely neutral handling of Freaks and softer more gradual powering up when exiting a jibe. All of these sails are going to be like an Ezzy or a North, Pryde, Severne, etc. They rig best on flextop masts, and HSM construction is fantastic, these sails will last a long time.
Asking prices:
QU4D 5.2 (pick of the quiver, pretty much like new) – $500
KS3 – $450
KSS – $400
Collectively, they were a little over $1850 (with shipping). So for the whole quiver, including my covering shipping, it’s $500 off. To me, it was a worthy experiment, the only way I could find out how the other HSM sails are like. In the end I decided to update my Freaks because they are the most controllable when massively overpowered (which I need in order to sail deep on the inside at Seneca), and they’re softer handling than these (though I wouldn’t call these hard). Only way for me to find out what these sails are like was to get them! New, these sails are each over $700. It’s crazy how much new stuff costs!!
