A friend of mine was doing some “picking” in someone’s barn and came across a bunch of used sailboarding gear and reached out to me because they know I kitesurf.
I told him I didn’t know anything about the gear or approximate value, but I knew the folks to ask. So, think there’s a market for this gear anywhere? It looks like it’s in pretty decent shape other than a little mouse damage on the sail (which I could repair easily enough as I do lots of parachute repairs).
Board – Phoenix F2, P 340 – length – 11’2″, width 26″, volume 195L, weight 11.8kg
Chinook boom
Mistral sail – Superlight II – 6.4 m, mast length – 460cm, boom length – 210 cm, mast bend – IMCS 25
Boom – 4,60 IMCS 24,5Might be a decent setup for a beginner not sure if they want to spend a big chunk to try a new sport…or for a cheap backup.
I can send/post more pics if that helps.
Thanks,
Brian

Hey Brian,
Perfect spot too ask these questions. I doubt the gear is very sale-able. Everything looks to be in usable condition, but it looks well used by the previous owner. The board dates to around 1999.
I wouldn’t recommend any of the gear to anybody who wanted to try windsurfing for the first time. It was never beginner gear. This gear would unfortunately set a beginner up for a big struggle. If somebody has windsurfed in the past and wanted something to goof around on for fun a few times a year, this could be fun if it was free or nearly free.
To me, the board looks interesting, but that is only because I still keep a long board at my cottage for fun cruising in lighter winds. If your friend is looking to offload it instead of sending it to the dump, have him get a hold of me about the board. It’s not something I am seeking, but it may be decent enough to spare it a trip to the landfill.
You may also want to consider contacting the Cayuga Windsurfing Club. They are always looking for odds and ends donations.

I hope that was helpful and not too deflating.

Doug,
Thanks so much for the reply. Not deflating, thanks for the honesty. I’ll pass on the info to him and have him reach out if he’s interested in getting rid of the board. And I’ll have him reach out to the CWC folks.
Thanks, and hope to see you out on the water this year!
Brian
