It was all lining up. Out of work, and a quick check of the Wind meter showed 25+ at Canandaigua. Wooooo! I was on my way, and then got a call from Shortboard Joe that he was on site after an up and down day at Seneca and at the launch things didn’t look great. One guy was rigging up so he would stay ands how it paned out.
Arriving 15 minutes later, and it was nuking over by Canandaigua Sailboarding and out on the water a new Ezzy sail was going pretty quick. Quick discussion and a gust said rig a 5.2 and that is what we did, till it lulled and I balked. 5.8 and 95L. The sailor on the water looked to be riding a bigger sail than that and was powered up nicely.
Long story short, we joined the mystery sailor and a mystery kiter on the water and were rewarded…like really rewarded. I was super powered up, and Joe was juiced on his big board. it was the best I have ridden on ‘daigua in some time. At one point I thought I thought Joe was leaving when in fact he went down a board to his 85L quad. Jibes were tight and blazing fast, I felt like I was holding down my 5.8 “Griffin” style. Way too much sail but somehow still making it work….going big. I had no business on a 5.8 gusting over 30 at times but it was awesome.
Joe and I got up in the lake a bit, but mean time the guy on the inside was still giving it everything he had on what in reality is the perfect one sail quiver…..a 6.5.
Dusk arrived and Joe and I met up with RWS Forum member Corey D. Turns out I taught his daughter a couple years back and I remember her telling me her dad windsurfed. It was cool to catch up with him. He sails a couple times a week on Canandaigua if it’s blowing 12 or better. Corey is fully outfitted too, with a sweet Tabou board and Kokatat suit. he’s got his tack down as well as water start and jibe in non nuking conditions.
I snapped a couple shots I will try to get up soon.

Glad you had another great sesh, WD.
Looks like Saturday will be another great day, and again I’ll be out of action at a retreat in Rome. Alas…so far, still just 6 days all year…

Just put an album up from the day on Seneca that you were missed.
