What a day on Seneca. The big finger lake has a tendency to do this in October. This, being way exceeding the forecast. A bunch of the guys knew it, and kites and sails were out in force on a beauty day. Freaky G Moore called it spot on with his Finger Lakes Fx, and as the meter started to climb it became apparent that I should be changing my plans so that morning was sailing time.
I arrived to Joe rigging 5.2 and a bunch of kites coming and going from the Castle Creek launch. I opted for a 6.6 on info from Greg via Jason about the wind gradually lightening. It was a good call for me. Perfectly juiced, as was Joe on his 5.2. He and I played for a while until joined by Suan of the Ithaca crew. Talk about a guy who is sailing great, he’s it.
Scotty was blazing on his 6.3 and 95 Freewave, and his trademark giddy up ass slap was all over the lake. At one point I was playing Roscoe P. Coltrane to Joe’s Bo and Luke Duke….I just couldn’t catch him. We were going turn for turn and he would just keep turning, sooner and sooner. Good times.
Gotta shout out to Chris K for the post session brew….wow it hit the spot. Thanks! Too many Kiters to list em all…heck I don’t even know all of them.
Windsurfing: Doug, Joe, Scott, Suan, Ken, Gary, Geoff, and Ted.
Kites I know: Jason, Greg, Andrew, Chris, Kevin, Tod R., Mark R., Sal (Buffalo)
I had the GoPro out for some of the day, and managed to catch some decent video of a few guys windsurfing and kiting. Suan, Andrew, and Kevin did a great job getting in tight to me. THe camera is a tricky thing as you have to be much closer than you think as a result of the wide angle lens. I’ll do up some video and get it out there soon.
Love Seneca Lake.
