Finally got some water time with some of the crew at Long Pond. Wow the water is high…like a foot below road level. For reference you are doing a chest high water start where your feet entered the water last year.
Glad for the updates on the Groupme text service I managed to arrive while Art, Keith, Joe, Scott, and Ted were all on the water. Sails from 4.2-5.2. Sooooo, I rigged a 5.8.
Joe of course with the line of the day regarding my sail choice “It’s gonna work, and it’s not gonna work”, so classic Long Pond. Everybody was blasting as the big gusts came through, but then you schlogged for a bit. I got tired quick, but it is that way every spring. I was glad for the small breaks I got in blown jibes and wind lulls. Over powered for much of the time, I’m blistered. I did manage to get some good jibes in as things evened out towards the end of my session. A few times, knowing/hoping the guy were watching I would imitate Scotty’s trade mark ass slap after a jibe near shore…hoping he said “that’s my move”!!
It seems Keith is getting his new Nelson custom figured out, Joe has his multi fin dialed, Art is straight on form, and Scott just keeps going and going. Ted and I shut it down after the rest of the crew had left.
Hoping for a Thursday repeat at the Pond.
Also, see my post about a discussion I had with the nice guy who now lives in Steve Pelman’s old house. He’s good with us rigging on his property so long as we are respectful in how we act and what we do. Cars on the other side of the road.
