Pretty exciting stuff here. Still baby steps, but steady movement forward none the less.
So over the past three years, my son Owen, and Joe’s grandson Vance have been windsurfing a handful of times in the shallows of Canandaigua Lake together. The days there normally involve plenty of candy and sweets, and a ton of good laughing. Oh, and th…[Read more]

I’ll adventure around the islands surrounding our Georgian Bay cottage on a fantastic purple early 1990’s Equipe/IMCO board with a 7.5. Flip the daggerboard down (and move the track forward a bit) and beating to weather is so simple, and railing it up makes the slower speed an exciting balancing act. I never log adventurous miles like yours t…[Read more]

Wow Geoff. Just, wow. That is quite a feet on a windsurfer. I’m sure somewhere on that journey had it been me I would have started humming the theme to Gilligan Island. Five hours standing on a board, whew.

So I have never ridden a foil anything, but here is my thinking.
It doesn’t look exciting to me. It IS fascinating from a design and technical point of view though. My enjoyment of windsurfing has evolved to a point where I like to feel the interaction between me and the water surface, ride down a swell face, carve, and then do it again. I im…[Read more]

I love drag racing everybody on the water, but racing on a course with strategy is a different thing all together. I’m more of a free ride lover at heart. If I were to like racing it would be more like a long figure 8 slalom course.
Anyhow, it has actually been pretty exciting to tune in to the RSX racing (and watching the previously re…[Read more]

The ever observant Freaky G. I’m guessing the top photo was distorted a bit. I could be wrong.
Q3: Does Brad talk only with an English accent when using Excaliber?
Q3.1: Is she referred to as “My lady”, or “that wench that planted me on my face before I knew what was happening”.

Honestly, when the wind alarms started going off on my phone, I thought I had missed a small wind window for sure. I waffled on going to the lake around noon, and chanced a text to Skymongrel Scott, who replied he had an eye on it as well, and was willing to give it a go. I was feeling like it was a huge gamble and that for sure I would get sk…[Read more]

Could this be the affordable solution to our wind meter needs at some of our local spots? They state that YES, we can publish our data directly…[Read more]

It’ll be windy some day soon thanks to Jim.
Being a relative newbie in the area, does anybody have any memories of Jim Cook?

Super post Bob. Thanks for taking the time to update us.

Thanks to all of the Groupme crew for texting in relevant info about conditions at the pond. Re-energized Eric M. gave a goo report of 5.8 conditions and that got me pumped
I arrived after work to Eric on the water on 5.8, Art on 5.2, Joe on 5.2, and another sailor ripping on a small looking RAF Cam sail. Folks looked to be doing pretty well o…[Read more]

He went live from his phone to Facebook for a couple minutes…[Read more]

Geoffy Boy,
When are we going to get you up north on Lake Ontario at Durand for a west/north west blow?
It’s a hike I know. Think about it some time. We’ve had some really big water up here lately.
Thanks for the FX!

The show started late, and the wind was very dress rehearsal-ish, but plenty of people got out on the water.
Tough call (well, easy for some, but not me) whether or not to go to Montana or Webster Park for windsurfing. The wind was WNW in the 20’s and touching in at Montana with a lot better odds if you under powered.
Joe H. and I rigged up…[Read more]

I got there just in time to see both kites come off the water. Nuts!!!
I furiously rigged, but it was all for not. I sat through a few squalls and left town around 11:30 myself.
Glad you scored.
