This is a great question Brian.
I sailed at Durand about 2 weeks ago and their was still about 8 more feet of beach than what your pic now shows. What a difference. I’m lucky to be a windsurfer and don’t need the beach, so I can’t really weigh in on kite launching but thanks for sharing this pic here.
I do know that some of the crew has been l…[Read more]

Amazing Scott!
This adventurous spirit has got to be how you have kept windsurfing so fresh and going in your life over time. Pushing boundaries, trying new things, going new places. Inspiring.
Congrats on two stoke filled sessions, and thanks for sharing them with us here.

Nice. Saw the last kite leave the water around the time you mentioned Bob. I was returning from Trumansburg and a weekend away. The warm breeze pushed my thoughts towards Seneca Lake all day. Glad you got some, and thanks for sharing.

Worthwhile watch Brad, thanks for sharing.
How are things in G-town? I have not been down yet this year. What sort of development does the year hold for the waterfront? Has the community gotten the go ahead or have the desire to go forward with the planned marina/docks behind Long Pier?
See ya out there.

No way. Sorry I overlooked him. Troy is a fast sailor! I have a couple pics of him at Hamburg last summer that have his wake dancing with white water right out of the frame.
Way to go Troy!
Also, glad you laughed. Kinger being Kinger.

I jest. Looks like he rode in the OBX Wind event again this year. Craig Brown too. I’d love to get a take on it here.

The calendar conspired against me for so long. The wind and weather did the same. I was finally able to get my first windsurf session of 2019 under my belt at Canandaigua.
Leery of fickle springtime conditions, I didn’t load up until after work ended so it took me a bit longer to arrive. En route the wind strengthened and I got word that so…[Read more]

This news has been all over social media, but if you missed it, kite tech and foil tech have come together to give us a new pursuit. Slingshot, Naish, Duotone and some others will be releasing these inflatable wings by the summer. Lots of questions…….
The lack of friction created via foil boarding has made this decades old concept a w…[Read more]

Hey E!
Thanks for doing this. The station is just known as “Canandaigua” on Weatherflow’s suite of products. I have always gotten a good response from the folks running the show at Weatherflow, and they even relocated the Durand/Irondequoit meter to its preferred current location with help from Mark Rozensweig, and H2O Rick Griffin. The ne…[Read more]

The wind meter at Canandaigua Sailboarding has been offline for an extended period. According to Steve at CDGA Sailboard it is working fine in shop (I verified it). The issue is that the tech on the meter has aged out of the Weatherflow system/network and they need to do a full upgrade (according to Weatherflow).
UNTIL WE CONTACT THEM R…[Read more]

Bob and Scott!
Thanks for the first stoke-filled reports of the spring. Family commitments (no really….I had legit family commitments!) have kept me from getting on the water yet, and honestly I was not super motivated….but your reports have stoked the embers.
It’s great to hear Corey and Isaac are ahead of me in 2019 sessions. I love to p…[Read more]

The local windsurf community that hits Hamburg Town Park will know “Erie Joe”/Joe Krineski. He and Debbie are top notch wind warriors and have been at the top for years.
Joe contacted me recently completely bummed out about the winters we have been having and lamenting that conditions have just not been there for him to get out in Erie,…[Read more]

I contacted Geoff to let him know of your interest in the Quiverack. He doesn’t check in often in winter. He still has it and when he gets a free second said he will reach out here. If you have contact information, send me an e mail from the contact page, and I will forward it to him. Keep checking back or contact me with any qu…[Read more]

This article may make me bite on a subscription to this magazine. I had been receiving it free for a few issues but now that is stopping. A great read. Word from windsurfer/photographer Fred Bertram is that they asked him to do some wind sport photo for a possible article in the summer.

Great write up Max! Your stoke is palpable. It’s easy to get bogged down this time of year and lose a little motivation, this stoked my fire. I have been curious as to how Mendon Ponds would be. It typically gets less snow than the lake shore sites. Canandaigua had some really good looking ice the other day when I headed to Keuka with Scot…[Read more]

Hey Frank.
Your renewed energy is awesome…don’t let the long winter slow your burn! I was a kid windsurfer.
I started out when I was 12, in 1986. My grandmother bought our family a Ten Cate Runner with a 4.6 and 6.5 sail to use at our cottage on Southern Georgian Bay. It was a struggle at first….my athletic but thin body would wear i…[Read more]
