Liquid smoke on the water. At times is obscured the view of the parkway all the way across Long Pond. I would ditch, or get low in the water to keep my gear from being ripped from my hands.
Art doing some big wind sailing before dinner.
Long Pond wind blown scum. I drove around with this on my car for a few days. As hard to see thr…[Read more]

The experience was indescribable. I couldn’t come up with any words for what the day provided.
I’m tremendously grateful to Chris Joyce, and Skymongrel Scott for taking a camera out to capture the experience. I’ll add a couple pics to this post, and a couple galleries worth of pics will show up soon.
The crew that hit Long Pond when the wind c…[Read more]

windydoug replied to the topic Old gear…worth anything? in the forum Gear For Sale 6 years, 7 months ago
Hey Brian,
Perfect spot too ask these questions. I doubt the gear is very sale-able. Everything looks to be in usable condition, but it looks well used by the previous owner. The board dates to around 1999.
I wouldn’t recommend any of the gear to anybody who wanted to try windsurfing for the first time. It was never beginner gear. This gear…[Read more]

Thank you Doug C. for the Groupme message service. Thank you to the kiters ripping it up at Montana for leaving a message. This one was not on my radar at all.
I started out by figuring out which of my wind nut buddies I could get to go to Montana on a whim for a thermal session on the freezing water. Scott Rowe. Except Scott was banged up…[Read more]

The winter season burned bright for a little while, and then that February thaw destroyed all the ice and snow. Plenty of Kitewing adventures for Scott, Gary, and I.
I managed some drone footage of Scott in early January on Canandaigua. Black ice with sand 2 feet below. You can see the seaweed under the ice.
It’s exhilarating, you should jo…[Read more]

Incredible stats Chris and Jason! When logging my session from this past Saturday I noticed that mega sized seshie you had. Those are amazing speeds.
We had another good Kitewing session this past weekend, that makes two in a row. Scott, Gary and I headed to Long Pond with good winds and a nice forecast in place. Ice fishermen were aro…[Read more]

Scott, Gary, and I had a nice Kitewing session on I Bay mid day on Saturday. I think Chris G. was out at Long Pond on his kite.
Scott scouted out a Nice patch of firm, snow covered ice at the southern end of I Bay and Gary and I were set to go. Skis would be the call on the day, and Gary reported he was on site and Scott was ripping back and f…[Read more]

Hey Mark,
If you look back in the forum, Joe Krineski (Erie Joe on the forum) of Erie PA has 3 unused Kitewings for sale. He was part of our group buy a couple years back so got them at a great rate. I’d have to look back, but I think he has a 5.5 Race (identical to what Scott and I have), a 4.0, and a SK8. Last I saw he was offering to th…[Read more]

Later than most of the die hard Rochester and FLX winter warriors, I had my first session of the year on Canandaigua Lake on Sunday.
Conditions were surprisingly good on the big sheet of 6-8 inch thick ice at the northern end. Six to seven ice boats got on the ice along the pier where a small hop gives you access with some steps. Thanks to i…[Read more]

I missed this session and haven’t had a chance to hear much about it. I missed for a good reason, but that doesn’t make it any easier.
Huge winds, tiny sails and kites, out of town guys, jumps to the skies. How was it?
I got this shot of Andrew from the pier taken by Tom D. Incredible shot right?

You guys have heard of Arnaud de Rosnay non?
Clearly Geoff has, from his history in the sport.
Chris…..maybe not….he’s kinda like Arnaud…sailing lake Ontario in December in strong off shore winds on 1980’s gear………in the 2000’s. Kinda like Leland Van Lew from Along Cam Polly. A base jumping Crocodile wrestling, Motocross racing, s…[Read more]

I’ve ridden a Onewheel before, so much fun. I happened upon a guy surfing a parking lot at one of my son’s summer soccer games and he let me do a couple loops in the parking lot.
Wish I had enough cash to make a move.

Hehehe!
Took me a sec to get my bearings. The viewers perspective is looking ENE correct? Yeah, that’s pretty much it for a windsurfer on a NW there too (when not touching in at Durand). Some of those waves should have been going the opposite direction too.
You’re a nut!
Thanks.

Interesting conversation to follow you guys. Jay, does the foil get to wind any better than a typical board set up for you guys? I was coming up behind a guy with a colorful Slingshot foil board on Saturday and he actually made me back off the gas because I could not get any higher than his point of sail into the wind and he had right of wa…[Read more]

It was all lining up. Out of work, and a quick check of the Wind meter showed 25+ at Canandaigua. Wooooo! I was on my way, and then got a call from Shortboard Joe that he was on site after an up and down day at Seneca and at the launch things didn’t look great. One guy was rigging up so he would stay ands how it paned out.
