Had a decent day with a bunch of Windsurf and Kite folks, Seneca can be such a melting pot of riders. Folks from the Geneva area, Finger Lakes South, Rochester area, Syracuse area, and even Buffalo were on the water for deceivingly steady wind in the middle of the lake. A few kiting women were in the line up, and that should get us all pumped. …[Read more]

Update:
A State Trooper stopped recently to remind a group of windsurfers that parking along the road on the house side of Edgemere Drive at Long Pond is forbidden. He let the well mannered group off with a reminder but said tickets will be coming if we don’t park our cars on the correct side of the road (pond side) from now on. ALSO, remember t…[Read more]

So Steve Pelman moved down the road, and his old place has new owners, with two young kids. This is the brown house with white trim, big treehouse deck, and pool. He was discussing trees in his yard and I walked over. HE was definitely giving the “what are these guys doing in my yard” look. Understandable.
Anyhow, he asked that we still ap…[Read more]

Finally got some water time with some of the crew at Long Pond. Wow the water is high…like a foot below road level. For reference you are doing a chest high water start where your feet entered the water last year.
Glad for the updates on the Groupme text service I managed to arrive while Art, Keith, Joe, Scott, and Ted were all on the w…[Read more]

Hi Larry,
Glad you found the website and joined the discussion on the forum. Welcome back!
As far as I know, the rules have not changed regarding PFD’s on the Finger Lakes. You need to be wearing one, or have one on board. The windsurfers are split (informal observation) on who wears one, and who does not. I wear a NP Flotation vest (no…[Read more]

Great write up by Scott regarding Easter Sunday at the Pond…..Anyhow, I finally managed my first session of the year at Durand with wind touching in really nicely at around 20 mph. BY the time I had triple checked that I had all my gear with me for the first time this year, Scott had been putting is 6.3 through its paces. I rigged a 6.6 as q…[Read more]

Awesome report Scott! Everybody’s wind alert was likely going off yesterday, glad you and Art got to the scene at the same time. I love reading this stuff…so often the buzz from the session still shows through when people post.
How about that Jason toasting your session before his!!??
Thanks for taking the time to share the stoke here.

Psyched to say that the first gallery of 2017 action is up on the RWS homepage and photo page. Also glad to say the pics were contributed by Chris Joyce and shot by Brad Muise. Forever I have been stuck with how to efficiently get pics that others take of local action in a way that is easy for the photographer and me to get up on the si…[Read more]

Wow!!!
This is an incredible deal guys. Somebody should jump on this. If you don’t know Joe, he is a Lake Erie wind warrior that rips it up at Hamburg so often he is a “local”.
Give him a shout….you may be able to talk him into a Hammy meet up during windsurfing season.

It was surprising to find out that the ice was good enough already to support the iceboats and ice fishermen on Friday, so then all of a sudden Saturday plans had to include a trip to C’berry for some winter fun.
The ice boats were out early and often on the reported 2.5-4″ of ice. Ice fishermen dotted the slippery grey surface, as did some…[Read more]

Wow! Somebody grab these……The blades are home made, already have spacers and those trucks are like $30 each.
Very gracious Keith. If nobody eventually raises their hand for these and you are not going to keep em, I am sure I can find a board to put them on.
