Dear Sarahfina,
you are a good daughter for caring about your father getting kiting lessons! You already apparently realize how important lessons are for safety and to accelerate the learning curve. Kiting is potentially very dangerous and much more so if the kiter has not been through proper and thorough instruction. Unfortunately it is costly. The instructor has to have years of kiting experience and preferably be IKO certified, which Brad at FLX kiting is both. I personally took a three-day lesson program in North Carolina, then when I came back here, took further lessons with Brad before I felt confident to safely proceed. I am so glad I did. To my knowledge, there are no group lessons around here and anyhow this sport doesn’t lend itself to group instruction past the very first or second beginner lesson. Good luck for you and your dad.
