It was great being out there with you guys!
Just being out in the middle of the frozen bay was great enough let alone being on ice skates AND then getting a go with Scott’s kite wing!
Thanks guys!

No, unfortunately not. Got stuck in a meeting that ran late.

Hamburg?
Sodus also looks to be building (WNW)
Could be at either location by 5:30pm.
Need…to…sail!

Eric, Doug,
The earliest I can get to Geneva tomorrow will be 5pm, so rain could be a factor for me.
If that doesn’t work out I’m up for where ever its blowing Thursday afternoon!
Getting excited!

I had a little adventure at Hamlin State Park one evening after work in May, I posted about this on the Rochester Windsports GroupMe on the day.
It’s a really beautiful place! I was the only person there (or so I thought). The wind had dropped quite a bit by the time i had found a good launch point and rigged, but I decided to give it a go anyway. Slogged out, tuned around and bobbed back…to find a State Trooper waiting for me!
Apparently one needs a permit to surf at Hamlin, windsurfing seems to be classified as surfing according to the State Trooper, and kiting is not allowed at all. Permits can be obtained from the park office on weekdays during business hours. It is not clear if permits are valid for the day or a season, but permits are not issued/valid during the swimming season which is between Memorial and Labor day.
I was let off “this time”, personally I’ll steer clear of the place. If you are keen it may be worth verifying the rules with the park office, and keeping a signed transcript of the conversation together with a valid permit in a watertight pouch in you wetsuit when you sail there;)

Thanks for the great session Doug! Intense but great fun sailing in that much wind.
I was a little surprised that we got off the water with our gear and ourselves in one piece! My arms certainly needed a lot of stretching in the following days.
Looking forward to seeing the pictures, and the next session.
