Nope, still the same deal no matter what I do. Two images either linked (from imgur) or uploaded (yes, I waited!) makes the post disappear upon clicking the submit button. One image is fine:

Seems that more than one pic in the edit makes the post go away.

Thanks Doug! It’s a Progressive Composites board, made in Columbia Gorge. I’ve never seen another one, or even heard anyone discuss them before…

Will try to post pics again! I do need to find a picture of the damaged area too, I’ll make sure it gets added as well.

I realize I’m a little late to the party here, but from Rochester, I see Kershaw at the N end of  Cdga as the most practical option for South winds (can have a fair bit of W in it before it gets gusty). As Geoff says, nice and shallow quite a ways out to practice beach starts, and it’s fairly trivial to make E/W tacks all the way to the shoreline and fiddle with your gear while standing in fairly shallow water if need be. Waves are tame compared to Ontario, and smaller than Seneca too.

It’s also possible to go there on a strong W day; while quite gusty, the calmer water towards the west side of the lake lends itself to some high speed blasting, if you’re into that sort of thing!

This time of year is no problem, but in the summer months, there’s a LOT of boat traffic that you have to get through, which can be a nuisance.

Haha, I bet it is! Did you take it to an event, or one of the “bring your car around the track at no more than 60mph” things? I’ve done the latter with my wife’s car (plain ol’ XC60), and was incredibly fun. I can just imagine how fun the Polestar is out there!

As for the board, as I said, I’ve slept on it; while a very tempting deal, it’s not what I’m looking for right now, so I’m gonna pass on it. It’ll certainly make a great addition to someone’s collection though!

Man, that’s a deal indeed… Second what Doug said on your gear being in tip-top shape; the GPS 6.6m I picked up a couple years back is still in gorgeous condition. It’s by far my favorite sail, and I’ve actually been looking for a more slalom-y board to pair it with. This obviously isn’t it, but a good deal on a good board for Ontario is hard to pass up. I’ll sleep on it, but I have a feeling I’ll be making a trip out your way soon!

I see your balloon and raise you an orange board, as a test post of my own; usually can’t just insert an image and post it without the post disappearing into the void…

Still Fall! Finger Lakes look like they’ll be rocking tomorrow morning, and pretty awesome all afternoon over in eastern Erie. Not sure about LP; probably not enough W until after sun-down…

Will do the same, I always have my eyes on Craigslist within a ~200 mile radius; it’s how I got most of my equipment.

What’s your skill level – looking for more beginner/intermediate oriented equipment, or more fragile light-wind type stuff? Foiling?

Coming from the perspective of a Rochester resident who hasn’t tried foiling yet:

On any given day when I’m out on Canandaigua, it seems that I’m the only one not on a windfoil or wingfoil. On any of the Finger Lakes it’s best to wait for a wind mostly out of the south if you’re attempting to sail at the north end of the lake. Anything east or west will get swirly and gusty. Others can chime in on locations further south (ie: Myers Point on Cayuga)

As Mihelbergel says, Durand should be a pretty good choice too for anything onshore (WNW to ENE). Offshore is way too gusty unless you head offshore a bit, which I’m <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>not</span> keen on doing.

Test post to see if I can post a picture without editing it into the post after the fact!

      Awesome, thanks Doug!

Was out on Canandaigua again today with the 9.5. It felt like the wind was going from 5 knots up to 20+ in the gusts coming out of the hills from the west. I had been using the 150L Go with the footstraps in the intermediate position, and have recently been trying to get used to them in the outboard position for better control.

I had been having a heck of a time getting comfortable with my feet so far out; hard to get into the straps without spraying myself in the face and stopping because my heels were dragging in the water, and then once in (assuming I didn’t either stall out and end up heading straight upwind or get launched into a catapult…), it felt really uncomfortable and difficult to get into a balanced sailing position.

Today was a real turning point; it turns out that I had been putting the mast foot too far forward, even with the massive sail; it felt fine before, but I think the only reason I was able to sail that way was because the setup was so… improper! It felt much happier and more balanced with the mast foot about 1/3rd of the way from the back of the mast track instead of near the front, easier to sheet in to put the power on, more balanced while I shifted my weight into the harness to move my feet into the straps, and a nice comfortable sailing position while cruising along just under 20 knots.

My goal now is to break the 20 knot barrier with that sail; I’ve been consistently around 18-19 knots per the phone GPS. Maybe I should also invest in a better tracking device for more accurate speed measurements too!
